As We See It
In the future, as more state and federal funds are allocated to health care (health care is the single largest dollar item in the Texas budget), the elected and regulatory officials who have the responsibility of allocating these funds, will exert more control on how this money is spent. Increased oversight usually results in more regulation and additional rules. This occurs at both the state and federal level.
As reimbursements for procedures decreases, the competition for those dollars increases and some members of the imaging industry have sought to increase their own funding by requesting government intervention to narrow or limit certain business models. Higher quality and more reasonable health care costs for patients are the results of good and fair business competition and not a choice mandated by the government.
